RC Helicopters

RC Helicopters are a great way to experience the sensation of flying a helicopter.
RC helicopters sold in toy stores tend to have poor control and so are disapointing .
RC helicopters sold in hobby shops fly well but tend to be expensive.
For the best deals and latest technology, go to Chinese web sites like www.AliExpress.com or www.Banggood.com.
The Chinese drones vary in price from $20 to $1000.
Also note that items purchased from China have instruction manuals that are poorly translated and impossible to understand.
Got to www.youtube.com to get instructions and reviews for Chinese items.
RC helicopters are generally more difficult to fly than quadcopters because they do not have advanced controls like "Headless Mode".
The helicopters shown below have the most advanced controls available (per this writing in Dec 2018).
If you buy a craft that weighs over 0.5 pounds, you should register it at www.drone-registration.net for $5.00.

This JJRC JX01 is a small beginner helicopter that is easy to fly indoors (or outdoors when there's no wind).
It has an auto-take-off button and Barometric Altitude Hold that make it especially easy to fly.
This RC helicopter has counter-rotating blades similar to those in some advanced Army helicopters.
This helicopter has a Stabilizer Bar above the rotors that is similar to the ones used in some Bell Helicopters.
This helicopter uses a horizontal tail rotor to provide forward pitch for forward motion unlike any true-to-life helicopter.
This helicopter does not have a controllable swashplate, so it doesn't move side-to-side; only forward & backward.
There is a yaw control for changing direction. The main rotors have a diameter of 7.5 inches.

This V911S is a small beginner helicopter that is easy to fly outdoors even in gentle breezes.
This helicopter has a single main rotor with a fully-functioning swashplate and pushrods just like real helicopters.
This helicopter can fly forward, backward and sideways. The main rotor has a diameter of 9.5 inches.
It does not have Barometric Altitude Hold, but it has 6G gyros for full stability in hovers.
This helicopter is always in 6G mode, so it can't do stunts like rolling over or flying inverted.

This LWtoys V950 RC Helicopter is an advanced 3D-6G stunt helicopter.
This helicopter has a single main rotor with a fully-functioning swashplate and pushrods just like real helicopters.
This helicopter has a stabilized 6-Gyro Mode to help the beginner maintain control.
This helicopter does not have Altitude Hold, so the throttle joystick (the Collective) needs constant adjustment.
In 3D Mode, this helicopter can be flown inverted and do other stunts, but this is only for advanced flyers.
This helicopter is fairly large (with main rotor diameter = 18 inches) and so it is easily damaged in a crash.
Replacement parts are available if you have the patience to make repairs.

This XK K110 RC Helicopter is another 3D-6G stunt helicopter.
This helicopter is smaller than the V950 shown above and so is less likely to be damaged in a crash.
This helicopter has a stabilized 6-Gyro Mode for the beginner.
The main rotor diameter is 9.5 inches.
